What issues do you help families with?
Some of the topics families request help with include: care-giver issues, negative communication patterns, empty nester challenges, dealing with adult children returning home, understanding a family member’s addiction or mental illness, and problem solving in a positive manner. These are just a few of the areas I help families cope with.
With teenagers, I take a supportive non-critical approach to their struggles with: school, home, peers, perfectionism, mood swings, cutting, drug use, truancy, and difficulty concentrating and motivating. Teenagers report appreciating how non-judgmental I am when I hear their struggles. Trust building with teens is essential for therapy to be effective.
